More Sally Designs

Hey guys, how's it going?

I honestly thought I would have some more free time in drawing some and finally putting some of my stories online, but fate told me otherwise.

However, I have been toying around with the idea of redesigning some of the Sonic characters, Sally being the more prominent one, so I went and quickly whipped up some designs. The idea around Sally wearing clothes is a bit of a controversial topic amongst some fans, where some would put her in rather revealing outfits and others would over dress her, so I tried to think about what it was that I wanted out of her.

Or rather, what would better explain her personality.

Like Amy's girly girl dress to Blaze's regal yet very modest coat, Sally's best known trademark would be her vest. It spells out someone who's been in tough situations as well as showoff her more tomboyish attitude. So with the vest in mind I finally decided what would best suit her.

Since she's something of a soldier and leader I thought of the phrase "Function over Fashion" would best describe her general attire as oppose to making her look pretty and cute.

1. The first design is actually her default one, where is only just her vest and boots. I also decided to play around with her fur and hair color schemes as well as her eyes as well, just to see which ones I liked best.

2. The infamous Sally redesign known as "Neo Sally." I'm very neutral on her clothes and such, but I was pretty taken back by her lack of cheek fluffs, they were the most iconic thing about her face that I personally felt weird not seeing them there. I also kept the braclet's colors the same as my other resign of Neo Sally, mainly because I find it more visually appealing that way.

3. This design is one that I've used in several of my pics here on DA, but never got around to showing the full reference of it. Looking at it now, it feels a little too plain even for someone as Sally. The pants themselves were a very stretchy fabric that would allow for more quick and agile movements as opposed to something like blue jeans or khakis.

4. This one was a little too girly, but I was mostly playing around with the idea of Sally having long hair as well as her gloves. While I did like the way the fingers came out, I still wasn't sold on the whole long hair business as it made her look like a seperate being entirely.

5. This design is a bit more in the soldier and battle ready department than the others were. While there were many things about this design that I liked, I felt like there was still something missing, plus I might've gone overboard with her clothes' color scheme than anythign else.

6. The clothes' in this one is actually the uniform for another story that I've thought up of that revolves around a school that's very military on its students', so I was toying with the idea of the girls wearing pants as oppose to skirts. Also I played with Sally's bangs a bit to see what I could do, in the end I ended up with something that her evil counterpart, Alicia, would have instead.
